3.5 stars — I ADORED the first half of this book. It was super cute, had a lot of little inner book nerd nods in it, I was just smiling and loving it. But it kind of dragged out at the end, and I grew frustrated with Aggi. Bummer, because it had a lot of potential.

Aggi was the age old insecure, quirky, clumsy heroine, and while I don’t mind that, this one just went too far without a lot of redemption. I grew tired of her self-deprecation, and I 100% did not understand the level of her panic and humiliation about having her muse known by the public. Which was a bummer. In the end I had a harder time relating to her and empathizing with her plight.

Spencer was probably a bit too good to be true if I’m being honest…but I didn’t always mind that, it just made it harder to completely fall head over heels. He loved everything about Aggi that she hated about herself…which can happen, but…I don’t know. I did love that he was relatively patient, sweet, and considerate of her feelings…but again, too good to be true?

The two of them together were pretty cute, but I was a bit bummed that it ended up being fade to black. I don’t mind it in general, but I guess sometimes you have a feeling when a book is going to go in that direction, and this one caught me off guard. I ended up being disappointed…especially since it was seriously slow burn to begin with. I’m also not sure I completely understand what connected them. Like, I got some of it, but I think I wanted more from that connection. But maybe that was just me, I kinda lost my mojo in this one…

I LOVED the book signing stuff…especially with Spencer going with his sister. There were so many moments that reminded me of all the signings I’ve dragged my husband to.

The sports aspect was pretty light, which was a bit of a bummer. I was looking forward to a bit of a more insider look at extreme sports.

I did appreciate the concept of what Spencer was doing after retirement, with his charitable endeavours. But even that wasn’t gone into with depth.

So yeah…great start, cute moments, just kind of fizzled at the end unfortunately.
