A bit underwhelming and I found that the characters could have had more revealed about their inner workings.
Why is Marianne's family so cruel, for example? Did she have a good relationship with her father? Did Connell miss a fatherfigure? What was his short story about? Writing this I have so many questions left about the two of them!
