Books about books and the people who love them are some of my favorite things in this world (The Storied Life of AJ Fikry, Love and Other Words, and I’d Rather Be Reading come to mind). But The Jane Austen Society by Natalie Jenner is now up there with The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society as two of my Very Favorites. It’s got a love of all things Austen, an endearing ensemble of characters (and I don’t even like multiple POV stories!!) and the right mix of happy and sad.
I picked up the audiobook when I learned Richard Armitage narrated it 😍 and it is phenomenal, but I ended up picking the book up too, because I couldn’t put it down. If you’ve been looking for a Guernsey read-alike, I think The Jane Austen Society has the vibes. I’m tasking all of you with finding my next read-alike because I need more books like this in my life!
