Perhaps it's because I am a mother that I found this so chilling. I respect surrogates that give children to infertile parents because I know what a gift children are, and because I don't think I'd ever be able to give up a child I carried, even knowing they were going to a loving home. I was amazed by this story, because of the "reality" that is hidden under the "catchy" teenage phrases. I am not a fan of such shows as 16 and Pregnant, and to have pregnancy in the teenage years not only promoted but GLORIFIED was hard to stomach; not to mention the complete lack of interest in the wellbeing of themselves and their babies.... The description of the births (what little there are) just reminds me of a not-so-long ago time of the "Twilight Sleep" birthing, and how some mothers are still treated today.
