A Field Guide to American Houses (Revised): The Definitive Guide to Identifying and Understanding America's Domestic Architecture by Virginia Savage McAlester

informative medium-paced

5.0

This is *the* book if you are at all interested in American residential architecture. The only thing that could possibly make it more comprehensive is including basic floor plans for each of the style, but I’m sure that would lead to a quite unwieldy book.

Plenty of illustrations and photographs, this is a great book even if you don’t have much prior architectural knowledge!
