There were a lot of dark parts. This wasn’t a fluffy romance from Nora Roberts that I had been accustomed to reading in college. This had plenty of things that need trigger warnings: abduction, rape, murder, abuse, indoctrination, torture, animal abuse . It also had plenty of facets that I enjoy: horses, ranches, good strong lead characters with good communication skills. Not a super big “trope” heavy book in the way I’ve been reading them. Enjoyable characters, just not light and fluffy, it took me quite a while to get through and my heart is not lighter after the fact.
Graphic: Domestic abuse, Emotional abuse, Physical abuse, Sexual assault, Sexual violence, Torture, Kidnapping, and Religious bigotry
Moderate: Miscarriage, Suicidal thoughts, Suicide attempt, Murder, and Pregnancy
