The Witch's Boy by Michael Gruber

5.0

I was shuffling through the books in the library and I saw this appealing cover and description and thought...why not! I'm not into the whole fairytail stories unless there done really well. So me choosing this book was odd. I'm so glad I did. The Witch's Boy is very unique and brings insightful ideas to the stories we know and love. And Michael Gruber did an amazing job with explaining magic in a way nobody would think of. Now, the actual writing isn't the best, but it doesn't stop or lessen the story in anyway. And the character Lump is, just like many, flawed. But he brings this extra...something that just makes him interesting to learn about. Of course, when I mean flawed...I mean flawed. But even though sometimes you want to slap him, you also want to hug him. This story isn't something that I will praise for months on end, but it was a nice book that when you have the time should simply read.
