Not My Father's Son by Alan Cumming

3.0

I enjoyed this memoir. This book was one of the better written celebrity memoirs that I've read, and I enjoyed learning more about Cumming. It could have stood to been edited a bit more (some parts were kind of repetitive, repeating the same exact words/phrases a few chapters after they were first mentioned), but overall it was good. The first third of the book may be difficult to read for survivors of abuse. As a parent, it was incredibly difficult to read what Cumming was subjected to by his abusive father, so I can't imagine trying to read it if I had actually gone through a similar experience.
