Enchiridion by Epictetus
4.0
A Stoic is naturally inclined to pragmatism and tranquility. Though there are not any consistent Stoics today (unless you want to argue that Epicureanism flows from stoicism not opposed to it), Epictetus offers a way to live your life as a Stoic. If you aren't in control of something, do not try to control it; you will simply cause unnecessary stress. You are an actor in a play, play your part well and do not wish that you were given a different part. Be content and understand that you are a possessor not an owner, therefore, many things will pass through your hands (friends, family, houses, money etc.) so let them pass freely and enjoy them as time allows.
