Did not finish book. Stopped at 55%.

The way this book deal with discussions of colonialism is stellar, and I wanted to like it because of that. However, halfway through and I still felt like the characters were completely flat and the stakes of the world - a war, a challenge for the throne - didn’t feel real. It was like the author knew the world’s structure and just didn’t bother to tell us. Also the power dynamics in the “romance” gave me the ick.
