A Wolf Called Romeo by Nick Jans

4.0

A remarkable story about a remarkable animal. The people whose paths crossed with this wolf certainly experienced something the unique. I way I see it, the men who killed him were not really hunters, as most hunters I've ever met were responsible, conservation minded people, respectful of hunting seasons and legal limits. These men were sadists, primarily concerned with inflicting pain on their community. Nick Jans does an excellent job describing Juneau at that time and makes a valiant effort to present other points of views while he is clearly pro-wolf. It is astounding to me how vehement the hatred is toward wolves with only 2 documented cases of wolves-killing-people stat. Bears are much more tolerated despite a higher people killing rate. All in all, a decent read.
