Friend-Ish: Reclaiming Real Friendship in a Culture of Confusion by Kelly Needham
4.0
Needham does a great job explaining why what our culture calls friendship is actually not what God intended for friendship to be. Through much of the book, Needham argues that our culture glorifies friendship that replaces marriage and encourages singleness. She says if friendship is not founded on a common goal of furthering the Kingdom of God, its not friendship at all. We tend to look for earthly friendships that we hope will meet our needs and desires, rather than looking for friendships where we can meet the needs of others. Needham uses biblical friendship, focusing on the example of David and Jonathan, to further her point that friendship that honors God should be founded on a mutual loyalty to God and advancing His kingdom.
