The Beast Within: A Tale of Beauty's Prince by Serena Valentino
1.0
This was a total disappointment. All of the characters from the movie were barely in the novel, including the Beast. Belle was only in a few chapters, and some of them were just barely. The servants are almost entirely gone. The love story is mostly cut out. All of the action at the ending is crammed into a few paragraphs. Valentino took everything interesting out of the story.
Instead, we have some annoying original characters. The witches are obnoxious. Circe isn't all that much better. Valentino had them do everything. The characters from the story don't do anything without the original characters helping or making it happen.
None of the characters are the same as they were in the movie. The Beast is horrible after the curse. He went as far as to have someone killed. He never tells Belle about it. Belle doesn't have much of a character.
This was a total disappointment. There were a few moments that were nice additions, but they were buried by stuff that was completely unlikable. It did make me want to rewatch the movie again for an enjoyable version of the story.
