The Realms of the Gods by Tamora Pierce

I devoured re-reading this series in under a week, and am very happy to have done so. I can't remember how many times I read it as a teen, but my copies are definitely very well-loved. Daine and Numair have satisfying character arcs throughout the series, coming together organically in a cute and enjoyable romance, and the pacing through all of the books is honestly quite strong. There are some pitfalls and signs of the times in which the books were written (I'd have higher expectations for diversity and approaches to certain topics in the 2010s) and possibly way too many epithets, but overall this is one series that I felt happily stood up to my nostalgia. I'm really looking forward to reading the Numair series.
