The Good Enough Job: Reclaiming Life from Work by Simone Stolzoff

reflective fast-paced

2.0

I was very disappointed by this book considering how much press it's gotten. The author must be better at marketing than at writing. I was expecting a study on how you can be satisfied with a normal job while avoiding the trap of workaholism and always chasing the next carrot. Instead, the book was a series of stories all of which followed the same pattern:

1. Person was obsessed with their work
2. Person ran into obstacle
3. Person exited their job and took a sabbatical or created their own new role

The book isn't helpful for the millions of people who work for companies under less-than-ideal circumstances but don't have the financial freedom to leave their job. I wish someone would write that book.
