This is the most heart-wrenching novel I've read so far in my reading journey. I don't normally cry at real-life events, let alone books. Despite that, I wept numerous times reading the melancholic story of William Stoner. This book is a quiet tragedy, it is a sadness that is whispered in hushed tones.
I doubt I'll ever forget the experience of reading this, I don't know if I'm better off or worse for having experienced the emotions contained within these 300 pages.
