The Arrows of Time by Greg Egan

5.0

6 generations on and they are scifi space travelers. From clockwork to microchip, the travelers are now ready to return home and save their world. The only problem is that not everyone wants to go home, which is only a problem until an even more divisive issue arrises. Future cameras are invented, this causes a schism those who want them vs those that don’t. The messaging system destroys innovation, people with messages from their future selves telling them that they didn’t do anything prevents them from doing anything. People on a rocket come back and help them break the hold of the system. The travelers get home.
