Pageboy by Elliot Page
emotional
medium-paced
4.0
An honest, brave and beautiful memoir.
Elliot's writing is beautiful, brutally honest, he really shares openly and offers insight into gender dysphoria and queer experience as well as fame and Hollywood.
His writing covers his life from childhood in Canada through to finding mainstream fame in Juno and right up to coming out publicly as trans and having his top surgery. I found his writing to be so descriptive and vivid, I'm not at all familiar with any of the places mentioned but I felt like I was there.
Pageboy, as you would expect does cover some dark topics and doesn't make for easy reading. I'm generally not a fan of celebrity memoirs but this is definitely more than that and I would recommend it even if you're not familiar with Elliot as an actor.
As others have mentioned, it is non-linear and time does jump around which is why I have rated 4 stars and instead of 5. It can be a bit difficult to follow.
