Carrie Soto Is Back by Taylor Jenkins Reid

5.0

Carrie Soto is the best tennis player in the world and she knows it, but after retirement, at 37 years of age, she returns to tennis to defend her Grand Slam record which is on verge of breaking by Nikki Chan.

Carrie Soto, at 37, returns to the ground to defend her grand slam from Nikki Chan, Her father, Javier is a tennis champion himself and has coached Carrie all his life. In 1989, Carrie already had 20 grand slam titles in her name until 1994 when Nikki Chan challenged it, she was on the verge of breaking her title but Carrie cannot let that happen. Carrie decided to come back to defend her titles and reputation. Carrie is the kind of woman who is not very friendly and beats the opponent brutally, She and Bow, a 39-year-old male tennis player helps each other to prepare for the match. Bowe is someone with whom she once had a fling but now it's more than that, Will Carrie be able to defend her title from Nikki?

Taylor Jenkins Reid writes the book in such a way that it seems kind of impossible to feel that this woman, Carrie Soto, doesn't exist. Her character development and detailing are so meticulous and flawless. Reid has for sure written this book in such a way that it left the reader curious till the very end, The best part about Reid's books is her female protagonist, fearless and talented, with not giving up attitude. Carrie Soto is going to be one such memorable strong female protagonist that's going on my list. Sports channel calls her "the bitch" but as a reader, I have rooted for her from the starting. The bibliophile who doesn't read fan fiction or has any zero interest in tennis or sports, in general, will also find themselves hooked till the very end

overall 4.5 *
