The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness, by Michelle Alexander

5.0

So if you're trying to recommend a book to help people understand the problems America has with race, this is one of the ones everybody tells you to recommend. I'd actually start with Just Mercy and Slavery by Another Name, but this one is third on that list and is phenomenal.

I knew a lot about this from my law classes, but it's incredibly well written and a must read.

P.S. I read the version with the 10-year forward, definitely read that version.
