The Story of My Life by Helen Keller

4.0

When I was 6, we had to pick a person from history to read one of those young readers’ books and I picked Helen Keller partly because I loved her name and also having not gotten glasses yet I could barely see the world around me and I guess as a 6 year old, someone like that was appealing to me.

I always admired Helen Keller and this book really just proves how incredibly smart she was and a very talented writer. I highly recommend this book to everyone; its not only a first hand experience of someone deaf and blind, but also shows how she viewed the world specifically and really humanizes her. She’s not this otherworldly genius who overcame her disability but was human and had human curiosity and had flaws and ideas.
