There Is No Devil is the second book in the Sinners Duet duology by Sophie Lark. The first book follows Mara who ends up int he middle of a feud between rival artist and serial killers, Cole and Alistair. When Cole becomes obsessed with her, her life ends up in greater jeopardy than she could ever know.
Sophie Lark has quickly become one of my favorite authors and an auto-buy author within the last two years. I wasn't sure how I would feel about a serial killer romance as I haven't dived into really dark romance before but I really loved this book.
First off, I love Sophie Lark's writing style. Her writing is very easy to get into and it helps the books fly by as you are reading. It's clear that she knows her characters and knows how their voices sound. This is told in a dual POV and the characters were very distinct from each other. I could tell who was speaking at what time and I really loved how distinct the characters were.
I thought Cole and Mara's relationship was so interesting. Cole is madly in love with her and madly obsessed with Mara. Yet he doesn't take away her free will or her choice. Whatever she choses to do, he is supportive of her. He sees so much potential in Mara as an artist and really respects her as an artist. I loved seeing their relationship grow together. I also loved seeing how Mara grows as a character in this as well. She really learns to stand up for herself and take no shit in this book and I loved that.
I was on the edge of my seat during most of this book. I wanted to know how this book was going to wrap up because I was invested. I was so nervous at the end of this book and I think Sophie Lark did a great job of wrapping this duology up.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. If you haven't read dark  romance before, I would say try this duology out. It eases you in without it being overly graphic. I would recommend it if you are a newer dark romance reader like I am.
