Si c'est un homme by Martine Schruoffeneger, Primo Levi

dark sad fast-paced
Absolutely depressing but incredibly well-written, thoughtful and even poetic. It's shocking the inhumanity to which hatred and indifference have brought humans in this context. I have little faith in humanity's capacity for learning from its mistakes, but I maintain hope that books like this help in creating a society of more cautious and recollected citizens on guard against repeating the atrocities of generations passed.
