🌶️ 2 (the tension 🤌🏽)

Mannn I’m not even sure where to start. This book was a RIDE. I went into this book completely blind. I didn’t want to know names, plot, NOTHING! So when it first started out I wasn’t really sure what Elspeth was dealing with. My mind wandered from vampires to something like An American Haunting.

I love how during the first half of the book you’re fed little bits and pieces of the past and how it correlates to today. You get just enough to start guessing at what the Nightmare is and his relationship to Elspeth, but not enough to figure out if he’s benevolent or not. There were moments I thought he possibly cares for her and then others where I thought he was doing the things he did for himself.

I loved Ravyn and Elspeth. Give me all the tension and witty banter. The teasing and longing. The feeling like they’re being pulled together. When Ravyn made his first appearance, I text Ash saying I think I found my newest book boyfriend and boy was I right. Give me all the brooding bad boy vibes with a side of those semi smirks… swoon.

The last 10% or so of this book had me in a chokehold and because it ends on a cliff hanger I’m so thankful I was approved for the  Two Twisted Crowns arc. 10/10 recommend this book and this author and all the things between.
