Liar liar, pants on fire!
Aria, Emily, Hanna, and Spencer are the [b:Pretty Little Liars|162085|Pretty Little Liars (Pretty Little Liars, #1)|Sara Shepard|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1377830522s/162085.jpg|2191061] in the title. The time-line of this book happens over the first week of school in Rosewood, Pennsylvania. Alison, their bossy best friend whose attitude is bitchy much, had disappeared three years ago when the girls used to be in their 7th grade. The girls have flaws like the entire population of this world. Besides, they keep serious secrets and they lie a lot.. But, who doesn't?
Obviously Jim Carrey in Liar Liar movie is an exception.
However, flashbacks pop up here and there to help us learn more about their personalities, friendship, and well, secrets. The four girls start to get anonymous mean-girls-style messages by someone called A. This mysterious A apparently stalks them everywhere around the corner and knows everything about each of them, things which only Alison could've known. Could she possibly be back?
How I liked it:
It's a light read. The characters are relatable and feel real, and the ambiance of Rosewood gives cozy vibes.. Perhaps that's because I watched a couple seasons of the show so I was more than familiar with the book already. The little details which the show couldn't bring to the screen were refreshing enough to make me enjoy this book. [a:Sara Shepard|93970|Sara Shepard|https://d.gr-assets.com/authors/1229580414p2/93970.jpg]'s language is decent; meaning that it's neither too lame nor out-of-this-world fantastic-ish, and that's understandable given the fact that the book is discussing the lives of teenage girls. I liked how contained the storyline is despite the fast pacing. The loose ends which were left untied at the end are the teaser for the following book in this series, like "The Jenna Thing". I recommend it to young adult girls.. The book has a Barbie doll on the cover after all.
