Thank you to Evie for the ARC. Recieved through Booksirens. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

What a fantastic book! The world building and lore felt so well developed and actually relevant to the plot. We only scratch the surface of the intrigue in this book with its sleeping gods and crowns at stake.

I loved the magic in the book. Its rare but some people are born with gifts and are called Godkissed. They are coveted as it is seen to be a blessing from the gods to have godkissed in your family.

Sabine is a great character and I enjoyed her POV. She is godkissed with the ability to communicate with animals
Her strength after what she had been through at the hands of a  convent and being effectively sold to a husband who has a bad reputation, who is also making her cross the land naked for 21 days on a horse was inspiring. She felt real and her decisions didn't feel out of place. Her ability to trust and love after what she had been through hit me in the feels.

Basten "Wolf" Bowborn is a beast of a man with a hard outer shell hiding a lot of hurts from his past. He has a godkissed gift of strong sense of smell which is applied interestingly in this book. I enjoyed learning about him and the way the two main POV characters learn more about each other and respect and trust each other.

Great amount of action, romance, political intrigue and forbidden love.

Pretty spicy book like a 2.5/5 with a good amount of pining and burning for each other
