De Profundis by Oscar Wilde

3.0

I couldn't believe the extreme contrast between this 'book' and his other comedies ridiculing society. While some of his plays reach the edge of stupidity, this goes deep into the human soul and its sorrow. I couldn't carry on through. I'm not really into sorrowful readings. This does not in any way diminish what I think of what was written. I didn't understand the 'events' or the background of what was written. I only just discovered that it was actually a letter expressing his real feelings during actual imprisonment.
A very interesting read
