A Date for the Hunt by L.P. Dover, Heidi McLaughlin

5.0

I enjoy the behind the scenes perspective of this unique dating show story. Allie seems like a fun character, up for anything who loves her sister enough to participate in a dating show for her. I’ve only read one other book with this plot device and I enjoyed it, and this, immensely.
Hudson is a firefighter. Need I say more? He’s got the bod, the heroism, and the tender heart. I love that the fires that decimated my home country were mentions, we appreciate the US firefighters who came to lend a hand. And I know our charity firefighter calendar is one I’ve shared in many a reading group. Because…firefighters and cute animals.
As luck would have it, he ends up paired with our feisty heroine. She knows him. He doesn’t remember her at first.
They are sent on dates together where their history is laid bare and Hudson realizes who Allie is. Their chemistry is fun and flirty and genuine before the physical attraction is clear.
As it is with short stories, their relationship moves quickly and before you know it, you’re at the end. I wish this had been a bit longer. I would have liked to see a little more interaction with the one friendly contestant Allie met, perhaps some conflict with other couples but that makes for a much longer book and I think it would lose some of the punch. I can’t wait for the next installment of The Dating Series.
