Myself by Shantel Tessier

4.0

MYSELF is book two in the Selfish series by Shantel Tessier and is a brother's best friend/friend's to lovers/second chance/New Adult contemporary romance. I'm going to whine a bit because...WHY?!? Why torture me with Becca and Jaycent's story before finishing Rdyer and Ashlyn's story?? LOL! Don't get me wrong, we met Becca and Jaycent in book one and I was definitely looking forward to read their story. But I was also anxious to find out what happened with Ash and Ryder. Anyway, Becca is the complete opposite of Ashlyn. Where Ash was fierce and domineering, Becca was soft and almost submissive. Not that there's anything wrong with Becca's character, I just preferred the stronger, more confident personality of Ash. Jaycent, on the other hand, was a less obvious alpha version of Ryder. Still possessive, substantial and secure of himself but in a less showy or cocky way. Maybe it was simply the nature of their relationship? Not sure but I still loved Jaycent for Becca and I enjoyed watching them break through the barriers to find their HEA! Again, there's not a whole lot of intense drama in this one. It's FOUR people now trying really hard to fit the pieces of their lives together. Told from dual POVs with ANOTHER CLIFFHANGER (or a cliffhanger still?) I received, read and voluntarily read an ARC of this book.
