A witty, bitchy delight. When we name the great works of queer literature from the 20th century, how many of them are tragic? How many of them are laugh-out-loud funny? Frivolous? Even Oscar Wilde is best known for Dorian Gray, hardly his comic masterpiece. This book is queer, and funny, satirising the gossipy goings-on of small town society run by two warring wealthy ladies. Featuring a well dressed man who loves fashion and fears his widowed bff might want to marry him, and a modern artist who dresses like a sailor and paints graphic paintings of "naked women wrestling". An absolute delight.
