The Library at Mount Char by Scott Hawkins

This is the perfect book to read this time of year, it's dark and has some of the most fucked up characters ever written.
This is a about a group that were taken against their will as apprentices by this sort of God that made each of them learn a peculiar discipline, a catalogue and master it, it could be languages or it could be murder and torture or possible future, impossible future or healing.
Twenty years later the kids are NOT all right and they all developed a psychosis to various degree of seriousness.
I could never foresee what would happened and I was blown away over and over again.
The author has a way of make you care for each character, even the rapist ,blood soaked purpled tutued monster, David.
