One of the first books I put down and thought: goddamn, these thinly sliced pieces of wood have got me crying. Also, not sure how obvious that twist ending was but it left my 13 year old self gobsmacked.
In account of my nostalgia, I will forgive the author for giving the love interest a fedora. But just this once.
