Where Good Girls Go To Die by Holly Renee

3.0

This is my first book I have read by Holly Renee and honestly the title was what drew me in.

The small town second chance love is always a great read. The story is about young love of two childhood friends, Liv and Parker falling in love in secret. Not wanted her brother to find out which happens to be Parker’s best friend. Ending badly, with Liv running away they don’t see each other until 4 years later at Parker’s Bachelor party. Liv finally comes home and we get to see how their story unfold from there. Honestly the book reminded me a lot of Southern Chance by Natasha Madison. If you liked this book definitely check that book out too!

I felt a bit conflicted by the main characters. Liv is supposed to be this “good girl gone bad” due to the heartbreak. I don’t really get innocent small town girl vibes from the Flashback chapter but more “wild at heart and bold”. As well as Parker, he’s all tatted up and supposed to be a heartbreaker but he’s honestly super sweet. I would have enjoy him more as the bad boy who only has a sweet spot for Liv. Although they didn’t really match who they were described to be, I still really liked this book! I mean I read it in one sitting.

Another “issue” I had with this book is I felt as though it was written a bit “rushed”. I felt that way more details could have been added. Although we do get a lot of great memories from their past I would have like that for their present. The end, from when they finally can’t stay away from each other was, in my opinion, rushed. 4 years of pain and running and they are the perfect couple in just a few pages? Especially when the first time they were in love they were kids. I mean he broke off an engagement and went straight back to Liv. And honestly the Emily character was made so plainly. It didn’t make any sense why Parker would even consider being engaged to her. And Liv was supposedly upset Parker cheated on Emily with her but even her forgiving that felt “rushed” or brushed off. I personally felt a bit disappointed in Liv and Parker finally giving it a chance due to this “rush”I would have liked to see them grow together as a couple a bit slower and more realistic.

Having that said, there was still something about this book that I really liked. Although it wasn’t my favorite read I did enjoy it and will get another one of Holly Renee’s books a chance! Who knows maybe the next book I pick up from her will be my next favorite.
