Wildfire by Hannah Grace

Wildfire is the second book in the Maple Hills series, the first being Icebreaker which was huge on Bookstagram and Booktok when it came out and was a fun 4 star read for me.

I enjoyed Wildfire a lot more than Icebreaker! I feel like the plot was far more substantial - there was definitely a lot of smut just as there was in Icebreaker, but the plot felt like more than just a device to get you to the smut scenes. Russ and Aurora were both likeable and relatable as characters, both had their own baggage which they slowly shared with each other as the story progressed and they got to know each other better. I especially liked Russ’ POV chapters, going on the journey with him through his family issues, opening up to people and letting Aurora into his life was really satisfying and it was great to watch their relationship develop and grow.

I’m knocking off half a star because there were a few scenes throughout the book that felt like filler, they didn’t really add much to the plot and they dragged a bit. I am very firmly on team ‘romance books shouldn’t be more than 300 pages long’ though, so this may just be a me thing. Overall this didn’t hamper my enjoyment of the book though. I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a fun smutty little book with summer romance vibes.
