Teacher of the Year by M.A. Wardell

4.0

I adored these characters. It’s been a long time since I read a book with so many lovable characters. And the setting: LOVED it! In a school in Maine, where our protagonist, Marvin Block, kindergarten teacher extraordinaire is up for teacher of the year, a new family comes to town. Olan Stone and his sweet daughter Illona barrel into Marvin’s life and really shake things up. With so much riding on teacher of the year, his growing attraction to a new student’s father isn’t the best idea… but when he looks like Olan, with all of his sexy sweetness, it becomes near impossible…

The romance between Marvin and Olan was so fantastic. I fell in love with them falling in love. And the other topics this broaches completely spoke to me at a time in my life that is so important. This book deals with alcoholism and as a recently sober person, it just totally resonated.

M.A. Wardell is definitely an author to look out for, having a grasp on how to write swoon worthy romance as well as a clear understanding of the art of teaching. I wish I had Marvin Block as a yea her when I was a kid. What an adorably sweet soul he was. The interactions between he and his students were just… chef’s kiss good!
