The Lake House by Kate Morton

5.0

Loved it! This was my first Kate Morton book and I`ll definitely read more of her work. Really great story with a set of interesting characters. The book is long-ish but didn`t seem long because I was totally engaged in the story, which switched back and forth seamlessly between present day and the 1930`s. There are a few mysteries going on at once, all somewhat easy to figure out as you go along but that wasn`t disappointing. My opinion of the book dropped slightly below 5 stars near the end because not a single detail was left unexplained - it was just a little too wrapped up. I`m thinking, in particular, of Sadie et al figuring out Constance`s role in Mr Llewellyn`s death. I mean really, correct or not it was a leap for them to come up with that without real evidence. We were also told that Eleanor had figured it out (with evidence) and it would have been better to just leave it at that. This is a very minor part of the story though, so seems a little picky of me to mention it.
Highly recommended.
