Frankenstein, by Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley

3.0

This was fascinating. Been a bit since I'd read a classic work, so the manner of writing took some time to get accustomed to. These can be so overwrought and hyperbolic often times, but it ended up being quite gripping and not at all what I expected it to be, having had only Hollywood knowledge of the tale. Compared to cinema, the original's notion of a tremendously articulate, philosophical AND physically overwhelming creature is so unexpected and unsettling from a horror standpoint. Superbeast!
