So I know the "season" isn't over, I probably update this review as it goes along.
I like that while the first season seemed like dealing with personal issues, now we have like a true fantasy plot with a villain (spoilers) with Kronos reawakening and Apollo looking to overthrow Zeus. I like that things are getting serious!
Lots of character development this season. In the first season Smythe did a good job showing how well Hades and Persephone got along through humor and banter. This season they are the only ppl they feel comfortable sharing their worse feelings and history/trauma with. They trust each other so much, it really makes a good argument for WHY they work as a couple, not just, "they're attracted to one another".
OBSESSED with their starbucks having sisphyus as the logo.
Also I forgot to mention in my previous review how much I love the portrayal of Hera. Most adaptations do her no justice, she's just evil bc her husband cheats on her. Here she still has a shitty relationship with Zeus but she has a lot more character and agency beyond that.
I spoke too soon about the lack of gay characters. I also really liked how Hephaestus's disability was shown. Lots on myths said he had a lame leg, but since it's modern times it makes sense he'd have prosthetics.
Also I love Daphne so much but I know how her myth goes so everytime I see her my heart is heavy.
I'm really glad they finally included a serious trip to a therapist. I love that it's Chiron. But in season one refrences to the characters seeing a therapist was often used as a throw-away joke. I'm glad we got a serious portrayal of a character seeking help.
