I stayed up late reading most of this -- which is to say it was certainly engaging, but I also was quite tired while I was reading it and couldn't quite follow the intricacies of the mystery and the curse. The characters felt super real and believable, despite the fact that they willingly plunged themselves into a literal horror story. That said, I didn't find the story that horrifying; to me this felt more like a thriller than horror? But I also haven't read much horror so I could be wrong.
