Been meaning to read this for years and finally got to it and I would recommend reading it! It can survive as a stand alone or open up a whole new trilogy for you.
Personally I’m not feeling invested in reading two more books but the characters are loveable and interesting thieves and murderers. You don’t really realise there is magic in the story right away but it definitely feels like a fantasy world. The plots, adventures and descriptions are amazingly well written.
Even though there are no female lead characters, I am happy that the women in this book are fighters, intelligent and underestimated.
If you like books Patrick Rothfuss or Mark Lawrence then this story of for you.
