ngl i almost cried at the end of this book. idk maybe it’s the psychologist in me or being the daughter of a mother who broke the cycle of abuse, but it made me emotional. to see how toxic and abusive family structures damage us is in part fascinating, but it also reminds me of how there’s so many people suffering. would recommend this for someone who has a strong stomach and heart and who enjoys deep psychological thrillers. i saw the twist at the end, but it was developed in a very good way, those twists where u can actually spot the clues on the second reading. devoured this in a day so i wouldn’t say it’s slow, thought it dragged at times (but i think it was necessary to understand the family dynamics and motivations of the characters).
Graphic: Incest and Sexual assault
Minor: Animal cruelty and Rape
