While familiar with the Tuskegee case and the forced sterilization cases that took place during the 60s, Take My Hand by Dolan Perkins-Valdez further opened my eyes to the inexplicable horrors endured by thousands of women at the hands of federally funded programs. Perkins-Valdez paints a picture of how these senseless acts impacted the lives of the many women and their families, and the lives of the caregivers who were in the dark about the practices of federally funding clinics and other healthcare organizations. This text is emotional and tense. It will live in my heart forever.
