Everything Is Under Control: A Memoir with Recipes by Phyllis Grant

fast-paced

3.0

to be honest, maybe i didn't like it as much because i didn't actually know who phyllis grant is. i know it might sound silly to read a memoir not knowing anything about the person, but i was drawn in by the cover and the 'a memoir with recipes' part of the premise. anyway, it was fine? the style wasn't for me at all. did not like the descriptions of ... well, eating a placenta. i just felt a bit sick and did not like it. i feel like the memoir is extremely disorganized, not her fault though. i understand she's primarily a chef, but i think the editors should've made this read more like a memoir and not a stream of consciousness collection of stuff that happened to the author. a lot of it was just mentioned and not actually discussed which bothered me because i expected and hoped for more.
