I was provided an ARC by NetGalley and the publisher Orbit to give an honest review. Through the narrator, Helena , we continue the story from Justice of Kings. This was an enjoyable novel and I cannot wait for the next book. As a good adventure story, it works as so many good fantasy books. Bloody action, demons, political intrigue, villains you love to hate, and characters you come to care for. What sets this apart is through the narrator, much older now, reflects on the actions that were taken to where it is a commentary of many themes, including the necessity of violence for the greater good, what is justice, nationalism and virtue.
