At the Firefly Gate by Linda Newbery

5.0

Back in 2014 as a year 6, At the Firefly Gate was the last book I borrowed from the library in my primary school and I remember enjoying it. A couple of weeks ago, as I am now nearing the end of year 13, i brought a copy of this book second hand and absolutely adored it. I think i have a much greater appreciation and enjoyment of it this time round reading it than my first and just found it an absolute delight.
The book follows Henry who is sad to have moved from his London life with his parents to the countryside a couple of weeks before the end of year six. When he arrives he makes an unlikely friend with Dottie, an elderly lady and next door neighbour who notices similarities between the protagonist and another Henry she once knew.
