The Dark Tide by Josh Lanyon
5.0
*quietly sobs in a corner*
"The Dark Tide" was wonderful and painful and my heart still aches.
The mystery at the centre of this fifth book is much more "softer" than the previous ones but it definitely doesn't bore and it definitely leaves you second guessing yourself up until the last pages.
Adrien was much more careful, a consequence of his life-changing surgery and of nearly losing his life, and even though I kind of missed his irresponsible sleuthing, I found his new attitude realistic (and also heartbreaking).
I appreciated Jake so much more in this one. I loved how harder, but also softer and sunnier, he was.
Josh Lanyon has a real gift when it comes to character arc and I loved how much Adrien and Jake changed and matured throughout the series.
I also loved Natalie and Lisa and all the side characters with my whole heart.
I'm not sure what else I can say other than: read this series.
Starting the final one right now.
