Suffice to say, this book is not for everyone. It's also incredibly long and I do agree with many of the reviews that the ending was not quite necessary. What made this book "dark" wasn't the graphic depictions of sex, but the psychological coercion and fear showcased through the entire book and the disturbingness of what Conrad was orchestrating. It wasn't all that believable and it didn't make a lot of sense, but I was falling deeper into the rabbit hole as I read. I cried multiple times because the author did such a good job of writing that I felt I could taste the emotions right off the page haha.
