"You've ruined Alaska for me."

There are books you seek for peace and there are books which bring peace to you. I could sit here and nitpick every detail of why perhaps this book is 4.5 stars instead of 5 and why Calla was not that likeable at first but you know... this book left me with such an intense feeling of wanderlust and belonging and love. I delayed writing this because I wanted to process the story more, but I keep thinking about it and my mind goes back to this often. Thus, I'll leave it at 5 stars.

This isn't the usual love story you might be expecting. I mean, yes there is a bit of that too. But it's mostly about falling in love with life again. About acceptance, forgiveness, belonging. Not just about a right time or a right place but even if the place isn't what you expected it to be, making the most of what you've got now. Surrounding yourself with the right kind of love and the right kind of people.

I do think I need some kind of hug or a support group for that last 30% because I didn't even realise I was tearing up.

Can I also highlight how refreshing it is to read contemporary fiction where you can find a supportive family network.?!
