This the kind of book you finish and don't understand how it isn't wildly famous. It's beautiful and sparse, and the characters are awful and so much fun to read, and the way that Tove Jansson uses the setting as a character in itself is so incredible. If I was that kind of person, I'd want to write an essay about about five different topics in this short book. Beautiful.
