Copycat Killing by Sofie Kelly

4.0

I picked up the first 3 books in this series at a thrift shop in Colonial Williamsburg when an ice-storm shut down the tourist attractions. Good choice, especially since it was based solely on the cats on the front.

I have enjoyed this series and the characters in this little town and, of course, Owen and Hercules. There was enough growth in several of the characters in this installment that if it were the last in the series I would not feel cheated (although if there are others, I will read them happily). This book has two different mysteries connected to the torrential spring rains afflicting Mayville Heights. An old body is unearthed at Wisteria Hill and a fresh one turns up in the basement of the artist co-op store. I had a couple guesses as to who did what, because of the limited cast of characters and I was right on one count and completely wrong on the other. I was proud of Kathleen's growth and the shift in her attitude toward Marcus and in Marcus' towards her. I enjoyed the antics of the kitty detectives and some of the stories about their moments of shame, from boots to caterpillars.

This book is also going to Furball, since I have shared the first two books in the series with her -- we share a love of cozy mysteries and kitties.
